English-Canadian YNES (born Kira Inez Riess) draws inspiration from both the DIY post-punk scene in North America (The Front Bottoms, Heart Attack Man), and the more refined likes of Lauran Hibberd and Kate Nash. It’s this exploration of genres, and self, that builds YNES’s hybrid Britpop-Punk sound.
However, YNES’s ludicrously direct lyrics are what really sets her apart as an artist. Self-described as an “amateur singer-songwriter, professional f*ck-up”, nothing in her universe is ever taken too seriously, least of all YNES herself.
Managed by Indie Midlands and signed to GRRRL GROANNN, YNES has recently played a sold out headline show in London as well as sharing the main stage at Bigfoot Festival with non other than Primal Scream.

Described as Folk-Pop with her catchy songs, enchanting harmonies and meaningful lyrics, it’s understandable why Christie’s sound is likened to Fleetwood Mac.
You may have heard Christie being interviewed and played on BBC Introducing, on the Brum Radio A-List, or performing her most recent single ‘Salt Water’ live on BBC WM Radio.
After great success locally, winning Sutton Has Musical Talent, taking the front page – literally – in local newspapers, Christie is on her way to even greater success.
Gaining thousands of views on her videos online, amassing fans from all around the world, along with an impressive vocal range which only adds to her powerful, soulful tone. Christie is an emerging artist to keep your eye on.
