‘Violet Sea’ is the debut single by Melbourne band Sleepflowers.
Pounding drums provide the heartbeat for this atmospheric indie rock track. The lush lead vocal of Lauren Power is ably supported by Eimhin Healy’s backing vocals, making for a nice female/male contrast between the two. There is a delicious lead guitar hook that melds in to a glorious sonic soundscape to end the song. The guitar work is one of the real highlights of the song.
For a debut single this Aussie quartet are definitely starting on the right path.
