The band-name might suggest a solitary colour between light and dark but there are fine subtle hues and variations in this latest single from Graywave. Nestling somewhere between desensitised daydreams and pensive torpor ‘With Me’ leads you away into a hinterland of private solitude – Ironic given the title.
The voluminous drums and echoing stacatto guitars hark back to an the era of melancholy when such heavyweights as The Cure and Cocteau Twins ruled the indie world. Jess Webberley’s voice shines all the brighter for it however and the crafted multi-layered vocal is a delight to delve into.
