Flattery is 22 year-old Anna Fuller from Chicago. ‘Quiet’ was written following “a week where several people told me I was quiet”. So this is an answer to that: an in-yer-face two minute drum smashing, guitar screaming, shout-fest. Er, OK it isn’t, it’s more like, “yes, I’m quiet. And I like it”. And quite frankly when the result is as fabulous as this tune, let’s have more of it.
Achingly beautiful breathy vocals float down from the ether with shimmering guitars for celestial company. A sound like this is never going to get away from the Cocteau Twins comparisons but then, is that really a bad thing? Certainly not in my book.
