20 For 20 – Haiku Hands – Haiku Hands

20 For 20 is a new feature where I look back at 20 of my favourite things that has happened in the music world in 2020.

If you’re a fan of Australian party band Haiku Hands, then 2020 was the year we got their self-titled debut album. A record that is absolutely majestic and sits at No.2 in my album of the year list. You can read Nikki de Ruijter’s review of the album here.

Featuring all the classic tracks that they play during their amazing live set, the record is a bop from start to finish. If you haven’t seen Haiku Hands live yet then you are missing a treat. Hopefully whenever life gets back to normal they can do a UK tour of the album.

Older favourites like ‘Not About You’ & ‘Jupiter’ sit perfectly among thumping tracks like ‘Eat This Bass’ & ‘Super Villain’. If you are ever feeling down then this is the album to lift your spirits and get you punching the air.

Haiku Hands also played the best live stream I have seen this year, and I’ve watched 876 of them (seriously!). The production qualities were as good as the performance. Check out ‘Eat This Bass’ from the stream.
