Ania – Tuesdays

Ania

Powered by a dirty guitar riff that smells of motorbike gasoline and sounds like the Stooges, Los Angeles-based Ania turns up the amps on latest single ‘Tuesdays’.

But she’s far from your typical rocker. Her hypnotic, droning vocal – and some beautiful breakdowns and hushed, spoken-word sections – take it somewhere else. She’s well versed in metal and punk but her love of jazz and the blues seeps through the leather and the feedback squall.

“The song’s about being lost,” Ania says, “and finding yourself. Finding your way. We’re all kind of lost right now, I think. But we’ll make it through.”

There aren’t many reasons to share this hope in the future at the moment, but in the eye of a storm of metal and magic, Ania finds positivity. And you’re reminded that positivity is sometimes a force of will.

“Inhale, Inhale / And now times have changed / But don’t give in.”

It’s a rallying cry to hang on in there, to keep on breathing, however tough things are – and we all need that right now.

‘Tuesdays’ is the final single from the ‘Ania in Chains’ EP.
