Friday June 12th – 7:30pm to 11pm
Glass Ceilings was formed when school friends, Lois Masters, Kate Phelps and Jay Bates were joined by Qemal Torra in June 2017. The band went on to write original music and play gigs at local venues, starting with a support slot at the Sunflower Lounge in March 2018. An old song from a previous formation, known as ‘Crossroads’, was re-released at the beginning of December 2018, followed by their debut single ‘Talk’ later that month.
At the end of 2018, Glass Ceilings had played 4 local gigs, had 79 streams across all platforms, and had built up 400 followers combined over social media.12 months later, they have now released 2 more singles, their debut EP and have much more live experience under their belts, including sellout shows in cities they’d never visited before their debut tour. Now with a 1,000+ strong following on social media, and more than 8,500 combined streams of their music, they’re hoping that their almost tripled fan base, and streams increasing more than 107 times the amount of last year will get them recognised as one of the rising stars at the 2020 Birmingham Music Awards.
Support provided by The Lilacs + Pomelo Fellows + The VCR.
