BBC Music Introducing in the West Midlands is committed to supporting the local scene here which is absolutely brimming with talent. It’s an exciting time for the West Mids with music of every genre imaginable flowing through the programme every week. This showcase is the first of its kind for us – a regular live showcase of talent that we have been supporting on air – it’s incredibly exciting to team up with Birmingham Promoters and play a big role in the prestigious live music arena that the region has to offer!

Alex Ohm’s alternative, cinematic symphonies reflect the wide range of influences that inspire his work and come together to create his unique sound.

Midlands based songsmith, Ohm has become a renowned name on the local music scene and beginning to make a name for himself far and wide.

With a number of sold out shows already under his belt, Alex has also opened shows for the likes of Ian Brown, The Charlatans, Ocean Colour Scene and Peter Doherty to name a few as well as touring worldwide.

Debut EP ‘At first a drop, then a flood’ was released in May 2017 to huge praise from radio and press alike. ‘Through the storm’ was taken from that EP and released as a single in October as well becoming the soundtrack for the John Lewis promotional video for their Birmingham flag ship store.

2018 was a whirlwind year which saw Alex and his band win the inaugural Pirate Studios ‘Prodigy’ competition, beating off over two thousand other entrants. That summer Alex and his band stormed numerous festivals across England including Isle of Wight Festival, Y Not Festival, Truck Fest and Tramlines.

January 2018 saw Ohm release ‘Retreat’ into the world exhibiting a different side to Alex’s song writing; fusing indie, hip hop, and classical influences together seamlessly. Ohm launched the single with a sold-out Birmingham show as well as dates in London and the iconic Rough Trade Records store in Nottingham in association with BBC Introducing and Y Not Festival. His latest single Fractures (Little Wonder) was released in April 2018; again to high praise from BBC Introducing in the East Midlands and regional press such as Gigslutz, Indie Midlands and Nexus Music Blog.

2019 has seen Alex writing and recording with his new band; a line up that is already receiving rave reviews far and wide.
