Best known for her work with Gold Baby, Siân Alex has released her first solo single since the inception of the band.
‘Blizz’ was written back in 2018, along with an album’s worth of tracks, but was put to one side due to the fact that Siân could’t afford to pay for production. Two years later having taught herself a little bit about recording and production ‘Blizz’ is finally seeing the light of day.
So what of the song? Well it’s definitely one to fall in to the indie folk genre. A gentle acoustic guitar combines well with Siân’s pretty and tender vocals. The song begins to build in intensity during the final third before levelling back down.
It’s a beautiful melancholic tinged track that both shows Siân’s ability as a songwriter and a musician. Whilst different to what we have come to expect with Gold Baby there are at times still flashes of the band in the song. Give it a listen, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
