The Sugar Petals are an act from Hertfordshire who played a live stream for Indie Midlands back in May to help us raise funds for the NHS. They are also an act who at the start of December released their debut EP ‘Better’.
The penultimate track of the EP, ‘Sleep’, is a catchy indie pop track with an infectious lead guitar hook. The song’s 90’s vibe reminds of acts like Teenage Fanclub. There’s also slight elements of shoegaze to the track. The vocals fit the style perfectly, both lead and backing.
‘Sleep’ is a really enjoyable song from the trio. If I had one slight gripe it’s the crash cymbal is a little too high in the mix and overpowers parts of the track. But that’s just me.
