‘Twin Mime’ is the new single by Italian band New Candys. The track is taken from their upcoming album ‘Vyvyd’ which is out on June 4th.
Talking about ‘Twin Mime’ the band had the following to say:
“It was the last song we wrote for the album. It plays with the meaning of duality, the connection between action and consequence, between who we really are and how we try to come off, and how we sometimes end up fooling ourselves. The volcanoes that appear in the music video refer to the terrestrial hell, and Earth’s fury towards humans”.
Musically the song is a nostalgic trip back to the 90’s, reminding of acts like The Jesus And Mary Chain, whilst also having a more modern feel to it. The pounding drums setting the tone and reminding me a little of Icelandic band Fufanu. It’s a track that grows as it goes along, feeling like it’s going to explode at any moment. The combination of shoegaze and indie rock combining well to provide a powerful, anthemic song.
For a band who have already released three albums I have to say New Candys were new to me. But on the strength of ‘Twin Mime’ they are a quartet I’m definitely going to listen to more of.
