If we were living in Ridley Scott’s 2020 this would be the number #1 single… of at least January. It takes the premise of such an 80s brand of retro-futuristic aesthetics and pares it down to its most basic parts: synth + four-on-the-floor kick + wistful vocal: good.
Filmic Vangelis-ish flourishes in the middle and end spices the track a bit. And to be honest, it gave me a chill down my spine listening to a certain part of the track, won’t spoil it for you.
The song doesn’t quite rise to Chromatics more iconic tracks, all of which were more lush and ear-candy-laden than this, but it’s a worthy addition to their discography nonetheless.
