20 For 20 – Indie Midlands Gigs

20 For 20 is a new feature where I look back at 20 of my favourite things that has happened in the music world in 2020.

Undoubtedly this has been the year where I’ve had to cancel more gigs than I’ve actually put on due to COVID-19. I did manage to get a few on into March though.

The first gig was early February and was a co-promotion with Killer Wave that saw Japanese Television headline The Sunflower Lounge. A few days later and it was A VOID taking to the Sunny stage for a riotous show.

February’s other gig was a co-headline between Piss Kitti and The Menstrual Cramps at The Castle & Falcon.

The first March gig saw the headline act pull out the night before so Kick The Clown jumped into top spot on the bill at The Sunflower Lounge.

The penultimate gig of the year was the Birmingham & Solihull Women’s Aid fundraiser at the Sunny. Headlined by The Sunset Beach Hut and featuring Glass Ceilings, Fawner, Graywave & Shanghai Hostage it was a great night for a worthy cause.

And then again at the Sunny the final gig of the year was to take place on March 11th. A co-headline between GETRZ and Gen and the Degenerates. A great gig but one that I would never have dreamt would have been the last Indie Mids show of the year. What a loss 2020 has been.

A huge thanks to every act that played for Indie Midlands in 2020.

Here’s hoping gigs get nack to normal as soon as possible in 2021.
